gSyncit - Could not open key ... How to remove component registry entry.

Please use the following steps to try to correct component failure when installing gSyncit.

If you encounter an error similar to the above when installing gSyncit the issue is due to permissions issues accessing specific installed components. The gSyncit installed is unable to update the system registry because the permissions on specific registry keys have been altered in such a way that the Windows Installer Service is no longer able to modify these keys. This issue would indicate larger registry permissions issues beyond the scope of gSyncit.

Use the sample dialog message above the error message indicates that the specific "Component" under the following registry key could not be accessed...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Components

To correct this issue run "regedit.exe" with administrative rights and navigate to this specific registry key as noted on above. In the gSyncit installation error message locate the value after "UNKNOWN\Components\" and match it with the same value contained within the "Components" registry key using regedit.

In the example above the value after Components is 620139E0B929C2837B208B4B303999FE and so we will look for this specific value within regedit as follows ...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Components\620139E0B929C2837B208B4B303999FE

Select this key (620139E0B929C2837B208B4B303999FE) and delete it. Once completed try reinstalling gSyncit.
