Removing Duplicate Contacts

Although gSyncit already includes logic to match/pair existing contacts when syncing between Outlook/Gmail there are cases where duplicate items can still occur within the contact lists.

Gmail.com provides a very nice way to consolidate contacts by merging duplicated contacts. This results in the duplicate contacts being removed from the Gmail contact list. When these changes are synced back to Outlook (when doing two-way syncing) these duplicate items will then be deleted from Outlook.

HOW TO REMOVE DUPLICATES (FIND & MERGE)

1. Go to http://www.gmail.com

2. Select your Contacts

3. Select the More menu and select "Find & merge duplicates..."

4. You will be presented with a list of contacts to merge. Click the Merge button to complete the process.

5. Select the sync button on the gSyncit toolbar in Outlook and you should be presented with a list of duplicate contacts to delete. Click the confirm button. The duplicate items should now be removed from Outlook.
